This morning, May 9, 2024, in Piazza Municipio (Naples), the 'Sii saggio, guida sicuro' village was inaugurated, an initiative promoted by the Campania Region and implemented by ANCI Campania in collaboration with the Meridiani association. The event, the final day of the "Sii saggio, guida sicuro" project, was held in Piazza Municipio in Naples. It was a festive day aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility in high school and university students regarding both their own lives and those of others when behind the wheel. Now in its tenth edition, the project included 32 educational and outreach meetings across the Campania region during the year, training over 8,000 students with input from law enforcement, firefighters, and road safety experts. The objective is to raise awareness among students about road safety, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3.6 of halving the number of deaths and injuries caused by road accidents and with the action strategies of the National Road Safety Plan 2030 and the EU Road Safety Policy Framework 2021-2030. The awareness campaign focuses on young people, as road accidents are the leading cause of death for those aged 5 to 29. The village was inaugurated by the governor of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, with the presence of the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi. Among the stands was the Borgo 4.0  project, featuring NetCom Group, a Naples-based engineering company leading one of the projects (E-MOBILITY) and participating in another subproject (C-Mobility). At its stand, NetCom showcased cooperative driving technologies designed to enhance awareness of the driving environment, reduce detection and reaction times to potential risks (e.g., a pedestrian on the road), and improve mutual coordination of vehicle maneuvers.
