On Thursday, 14 November 2024, the conference “AI-NUT: Artificial intelligence at the service of hazelnuts” was held in Caprarola (VT). The event took place at the Palazzo della Cultura and presented the progress and objectives of the AI-NUT project, financed by the 3rd Call for Proposals of the Competence Center Industry 4.0 MedITech and sees the partnership of T.P.S., ASSOFRUTTI ande e.i.t.d.

The project aims to introduce key innovative processes for proper management of hazelnut cultivation and processing.

 

During the conference, Alfredo Massa and Marcella di Marino, R&D Scientist of NetCom Group, the technological partner of the project, presented the intermediate results achieved and the solution in progress (LINK).

The AI-NUT system uses images acquired through a dedicated mobile application and, thanks to the use of advanced AI techniques, aims at:

  • varietal recognition from images of leaves and/or fruits
  • Identification of nutritional deficiencies
  • identification of the main plant diseases
