Growing Together in the Evolution of TLC: The Story of the NetCom and Huawei Partnership

The collaboration between NetCom and Huawei is a story of continuity, trust, and concrete results spanning 18 years. It is a journey that, year after year, continues to be recognized for its value, proven reliability, and the tangible impact on developed projects. This is a milestone that NetCom is particularly proud of, made possible by the constant commitment of everyone involved.

Throughout this long path, the partnership has received prestigious awards attesting to its long-term solidity and quality, even beyond national borders. These include the Outstanding Capability Award presented at the Huawei Italy Partner Convention 2024, the Service & Support Award received this year at the same Italian convention, and, more recently, the European Excellent Collaboration Award, conferred in Madrid during the Huawei European Partner Convention.

This achievement is by no means a given, especially in a sector as dynamic as telecommunications, characterized by rapid technological evolution and constant change. In nearly two decades of collaboration, over 250 NetCom professionals have worked closely with Huawei teams on dozens of projects, fostering a structured relationship that today counts more than 15 active initiatives and a level of operational integration that is rare in the industry.

A Partnership Born at a Key Moment for Italian Telco

The collaboration between NetCom and Huawei began in 2007, during a crucial phase for the Italian telecommunications market. Mobile networks were expanding rapidly, and the introduction of technologies like UMTS was radically transforming communication and connectivity.

Thanks to the specialized skills already present within NetCom, the company was able to support Huawei from its very entry into the Italian market, contributing to the realization of major projects for the country’s leading telco operators.

Since then, the two companies have navigated nearly twenty years of technological evolution in TLC networks together, adapting to new market demands as they arose. While the initial focus was primarily on the mobile world and the rise of smartphones, over time, the scope expanded to include fixed networks—both access and transport—which have become fundamental for supporting business operations and meeting the growing demand for high-performance digital services.

NetCom has developed cross-functional expertise in technologies such as LTE, 5G, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), and FTTx architectures, operating across the entire value chain: from network design and configuration to equipment integration, performance optimization, and field support. This contribution has always been focused on integrating Huawei solutions into large-scale national infrastructure projects—not by modifying products directly, but by making them fully operational within the networks.

Concrete Projects and Measurable Results

Among the most significant examples of this collaboration are the transport network modernization projects carried out for a major Italian telco operator. These interventions involved the Mobile Transport Network Edge infrastructure, which is essential for connecting mobile base stations to the core network and ensuring the efficient transport of data and communications.

These projects perfectly represent the approach adopted by NetCom and Huawei: a structured model that begins with recruiting young talent, continues with mentoring by expert engineers on WDM/IP technologies, and concludes with a skill verification process and progressive integration into real-world projects until full operational onboarding is achieved.

This method has led to excellent results:

  • 98% of feasibility studies completed;

  • 99% of executive projects finalized;

  • 98% of projects successfully released.

This model, based on continuous training, know-how transfer, and shared professional growth, has allowed the partnership to meet Huawei’s needs quickly and with high-quality standards while building autonomous, highly specialized teams.

A Strategic Partner, Not Just a Supplier

For NetCom, the partnership with Huawei has always held strategic value. The goal has never been limited to providing vertical skills but rather to becoming a true local extension of Huawei’s global operations: a reliable partner capable of supporting complex projects with continuity, vision, and adaptability.

Today, the collaboration involves an average of approximately 70 expert NetCom technicians and numerous Huawei departments—from project management to technical areas, IT support to logistics, and even a recent contribution to the Digital Power team, which represents a particularly interesting area for the future of the partnership.

This expansion has led to the construction of a solid yet flexible organizational structure capable of guaranteeing productivity, quality, and rapid response times, both in a consulting capacity and through direct service delivery.

NetCom has consistently invested in maintaining a pool of motivated and prepared resources ready to face new challenges despite natural turnover. The projects developed with Huawei are highly demanding, but they also represent a significant professional growth opportunity for the teams involved.

Operational Integration and a Look Toward the Future

One of the elements that most strengthens the relationship between NetCom and Huawei is the level of operational integration achieved over time. Today, NetCom professionals work side-by-side with Huawei teams, using the same digital environments and management platforms, where tasks, priorities, and progress are shared transparently.

This collaboration model is based on common goals, shared responsibilities, and continuous interaction, which has resulted consistently high evaluations and a relationship of trust that is renewed project after project. The awards received—from the Service & Support Award to the European Excellent Collaboration Award—serve as concrete confirmation of this journey.

Looking ahead, NetCom will continue to support Huawei in the various markets in which it operates, providing experience, flexibility, and execution capabilities. Simultaneously, the company intends to strengthen its collaboration on innovative projects, also leveraging the contribution of its R&D department, which is already active in developing new solutions and methodologies to improve service efficiency and quality.

The direction is clear: to continue growing together, evolving in step with technology and jointly tackling the challenges of the future.
