Active noise control system optimization for NTP internal noise assessment

NetCom Group, Partenrship with NOVOTECH, has teamed with Alenia Aermacchi as part of a research project, called “SFIDA“, aimed at defining the architecture and specifications of the new system of active noise control (hereinafter referred to as ANC system ) to be installed in the service of a new generation turboprop aircraft.

The ANC systems are designed to reduce the noise coming from a source that spreads through the air or the vibration of the structure. Typically the active noise control is achieved by introducing a cancellation signal, or an “anti – noise” generated by an appropriate secondary source.

The first part of the work was focused on the description of the evolution of systems of active noise control and classical methods of numerical analysis and experimental . It has also described the current state of the art systems ANC in aviation and automotive.

In the second phase of the work it was proposed and detailed architecture of the new control system, assessing and highlighting the performance advantages and installative than current systems. In the final we were then exposed the technical equipment set.

The diagram below is a draft architecture of the new system of active noise control to be installed on the new generation turboprop aircraft.
